Few years battling a chronic pain. The road has been long but I’m happy I’m feeling better. I can do my backbends now daily for few months. Many times I though my body was broken and I would never be able to backbend again as I used to.

Every morning waking up with the birds and a beautiful rice field view, practicing morning Mysore style with the sun rising 🌞 Wholesome buffet breakfast and then getting ready to go to a waterfall, visit a temple or just chill by the swimming pool.
Our place is secluded, among the rice fields, far from the noise of Ubud which makes extra special.

Sometimes we try our best but people we are working with are just unreliable. Unfortunately my retreat in Albania got cancelled due to the management not booking in the system the dates I had requested. This is the first time that ever has happened to me. Yoga is not something we do but a mental state attained through practices. Those practices may differ from person to person, lineage to lineage. It often includes studies of sacred texts, practice of asanas and pranayama, meditation, chanting, prayers, have a guidance of a Guru, serving others, practicing the Yamas and Niyamas and so on. All practices that helps to purify the body, still the mind and open the heart.
Yoga is not just a physical practice, but a way of life focused on self-realization and connecting with the Divine. It’s defined as equanimity of mind, skillfulness in action, and the cessation of suffering.

From the teachings of Gita:
Equanimity (Samatvam):
Yoga is described as maintaining a balanced state of mind, especially in the face of dualities like success and failure, pleasure and pain. It’s about remaining steady and centered, regardless of external circumstances

Skillfulness in Action (Karmasu Kaushalam):
Yoga is also defined as performing actions with skill and detachment, without being attached to the results. This means acting with dedication and focus, but not being controlled by the desire for specific outcomes.

Cessation of Suffering (Duhkha-samyoga-viyogam):
Yoga is ultimately a path to liberation from suffering, achieved by severing the connection with sorrow. This involves understanding the nature of the self and its relationship to the material world.

Tomorrow will be the first Guru Purnima without Sharathji physically here. His light shines brighter than ever in our sincere hearts leading us on our own individual paths.
In my own imagination you are present, wearing your toe socks, a nice linen outfit and a garland of flowers around your neck, telling some jokes, sharing wisdom.
I know the rickshaw crew will be very sad tomorrow, missing those moments of laughter, putting some cake inside your mouth and kilos of flowers around your neck.
We will miss the ceremony, to sit by your feet and cherish the gift of your presence.
We send love, we send prayers. May we always be guided by your fire, love and dedication to the practice.

I love to travel and to teach. Travelling with my family is even nicer. Travelling to a place with nice food and nature to explore even better.
But I can’t denied that it puts tones in my body.
Eating more food, mixing more food items I would not do at home, eating and sleeping in different hours. Trying to practice in different hours. Spending more energy teaching and socialising. It does affect my practice and my energy levels.
I love to be home because I feel grounded, I eat less, feel much less bloated, my practice gets grounded and regular. I eat simple vegetarian food.
Still I love to travel and allowing myself to try and experience different things as I’m also a human being experiencing life. Finding balance it’s important to me so I can have my practice but also allowing myself to enjoy places, hiking, eateries and etc as a person on holidays. I do practice when travelling but less intense and shorter usually.
Now back home, still tired from the trip but slowly getting back into my normal self ♥️

I come up on the exhale as taught by Sharathji on the led classes in Mysore. I just heard one time during an online led class, during the covid times, he said inhale come up but from all other times the instruction I received was exhale come up to Samastitihi.
Checking also Sri K. Pattabhi Jois Led on YouTube he instructed the same. I know some people teach differently. Just do your practice ♥️

I keep practicing Ashtanga Yoga because I believe in the method as a practice to calm my mind, move my body and open my heart. This practice has been my faithful companion for many years. One of my best friends in high school committed suicide. His name was Andre, he was 16 and gay.
He was a happy and joyful person to be with. Always joking, always laughing. But behind his smile he was in a dark place, suffering discrimination not only in our school but in his own home from his father and older brother. He was not accepted by the way he was and he was not strong enough to conquer the outside voices.

I have also spent some years in a dance community where there were lots of gays and that was the best time of my early teen years, until my stepfather convinced my mom to take me out as it was not a proper environment to be in. Again discrimination, which led me many issues later on as that community was a big part of my life.

One of the problems that I have noticed among my gay friends is silencing their suffering. On the other hand people in general not being sensitive enough to listen to and give support.

If I could go back in the past to the day he left, I would force my Andre to come home with me when I saw him crying but I didn’t. I just offered him a hug. He didn’t want to talk and I respected. I should have done more. We all do.
