  • Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Style

Mysore Style Class  – Traditional way to learn the Ashtanga Yoga method. Mysore Style is the most traditional form of Ashtanga Yoga practice. The designation is due to the fact that it was born in the city of Mysore, India, where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois lived and where he continually transmitted the teachings he obtained from his Guru T. Krishnamacharya. This type of class integrates all levels of practitioners in one class. From the beginner to the most advanced practitioner, everyone will be able to do their practice, and they will be followed up according to their needs. The teacher accompanies each student individually, indicating sequences of postures to perform (series). During this process, the teacher provides the student with detailed and personalized instruction, posture and posture. Proper breathing, bandhas activation, alignment, focal point (dristi), as well as all other elements necessary for practice (eg *: yamas and nyamas) are explained to the student.

  • Friday, 6th February, 18:00 – 20:00

  • Happy Hips – Journey to Leg behind the head

Opening hips means happiness because the center of our body is in the pelvis and it’s on the hips where the most of stress and holding onto negative emotions accumulates. Relaxing and opening the hips bring us freedom and happiness. The goal of the workshop is to increase the potential for movement and to have straight access to our spine and our nervous system. Open to all levels. Begginers are welcomed!

  • Saturday, 7th February, 9:00-11:00 Ashtanga Yoga Mysore style

  • Saturday, 7th February, 13:00-15:00 Solar Fire – Cultivating Power and Inner Strength

Join this practice to stimulate your inner fire, build a powerful sense of heat that will detoxify your body and mind as well. The distinguishing feature of the Ashtanga Yoga method is to include a “vinyasa” between each pose. Traditional vinyasa means coordination of breath to movement. However, in the Ashtanga practice the term refers to the jump back and jump through between the poses. This practice will serve as a foundation tool to build strength for transitions, jump backs, jump throughs and arm balances. All levels welcome. Come and play!!

  • Sunday, 8th February, 8:30 – 10:30

  • Ashtanga Yoga Led class

The Led Primary Series is a guided class in which the teacher leads students through the full sequence of Ashtanga Yoga’s Primary Series, guiding everyone to move and breathe in sync. The pace is steady and traditional, emphasizing precision, rhythm, and focus. Everyone practices together, which builds energy and concentration.

Some prior Ashtanga Yoga experience required.

  • Sunday, 8th February, 12:00 – 14:00

  • Ashtanga Backbends & Drop Backs

The final test when finishing the Primary Series is learning how to stand up from Urdhva Dhanurasana and from standing up drop backwards to Urdhva Dhanurasana with control. This dynamic movement, requires lots of control, strength, flexibility and endurance. Building good technique from the beginning is crucial for long term health for the entire body, specially the lower back. About Bianca Oliveira

Bianca is an Authorized Level II teacher, blessed by the Paramaguru R. Sharath Jois. It’s the traditional authorization to teach the full Primary and Intermediate Sequences. She was learning directly from Guruji Sharath Jois the Advanced A sequence and Pranayama until his passing and has had the opportunity to assist her Guru in Mysore classes. Her first Ashtanga Class was with Guruji Sharath Jois during a USA tour in 2013. She started traveling to Mysore, India in 2015 and since then has been dedicating her life entirely to the practice and studies of Ashtanga Yoga.

She continues the learning process in Asana and Pranayama from her western teachers, recently holding a certification to teach Pranayama and deepening her studies in Vedanta and Yoga philosophy with her Indian teacher. She took her first Yoga class at the age of 18 when she still lived in Brazil and felt a deep connection to the practice within body and soul. In 2009 she moved to USA to work as a performer for RBBB Circus and few years later the seed that was planted years ago sprouted and she sincerely felt the calling to dedicate herself to the practice of Yoga. She finished her first YTT in Boone,NC.

Traveling internationally, she leads classes, privates, workshops and retreats in the traditional spiritual path of Ashtanga Yoga. She is also a mother and truly understand how family duties and practice affects one another. How discipline, commitment, devotion and dedication are the base of the practice and also the non attachments for results. Believing she is an eternal student of yoga, her joy is to share all the benefits this practice can bring to people’s lives, both on and off the mat.
